13-00: Sickness is a blessing?
A few weeks after the babies were born, I was scouting out a little pond a few thousand feet from the homestead (I stopped counting after 1000 since it seemed redundant). In the pond I found the leftovers of what looks like some kind of 4 legged animal. It was missing the head and one leg. I dragged it home and left it with the other animals I had killed. We cooked some meat up that night and it tasted a little "off". Next morning I am running a fever and puking all over. Eve isn't feeling too well either. Thankfully, the little ones seem fairly unaffected since they are still nursing from mama. Having been sick the first time, I don't want to have to go through that again! It was not a fun day! We burned the rest of that animal in the fire as soon as I was feeling strong enough to drag it there. It smelled even worse than when I had pulled it from the pond. Dog seems to like some of the scraps though. I found out the bones don't burn well, and dog likes to chew them. They make noise when I bang them on rocks. Boomp, boomp, boomp. Was this how music was invented? I've noticed that when we cook things in water, they seem to get softer, so I'll use this curvy monkey head bone I found as a bowl/pot and let the other animal bone do a long soak over the heat and see what happens. The soup tastes pretty good. I don't think I would have even thought about looking at the bones before I got sick. Soup is warm and tasty and helps our stomachs settle and not feel so nauseous. We prayed to Father and gave thanks for health and for not being sick for too long!

The first thing I remember was Father's voice. I don't recall what he was saying but it was loud and woke me up. His Son was there too. They both smiled at me and showed me around the garden. There are so many fruits and vegetables around here! They asked me to name them all but I don't remember all that. I think the Son wrote them all down somewhere. All I remember is this one I called apple. It's really good. Oh, and Father said not to go near two trees. Let's see if I can remember which ones. Ummm. Yeah. I think I'm going to have to walk around and maybe that will jog my memory. I've only been doing this "living and breathing" thing for a few hours now I think. Father said something about time and the sun (that big light in the sky that keeps me warm) going down and night coming. OK, here's the apple tree. Oh man what did I call this one? It's like the apple one but it's fruits are not the same shape at all. Let me taste it. Doesn't taste like the apple either. It is good though. It's name is in the tip of my tongue. Well that's not the one He said not to eat from. Oh one's got some really shiny fruit on it, or maybe I'm seeing things? I'm getting sleepy...
Oh, I dozed off there. My side hurts a little now. Father said he took one of my ribs (whatever that is) and created a wo-man. He asked me to name her. I named her Eve because she's the mother of all. She's pretty but doesn't talk much. I remember that just a few hours ago. Father and the Son reminded me of the trees: I'm not supposed to eat from the tree of life (the one with real shiny fruits) and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (it's in the middle of the garden next to the tree of life). They said if I eat from the knowledge one I would die. I don't know what that means but they sounded pretty stern and serious about it. They told Eve the same thing when she woke up. I named all the animals too (so many!). This one is "dog" and the one Eve is holding is "cat". I think I know where everything in the garden is now that Father and Son gave me the grand tour twice now.
It's nice having Eve around to help me remember what I named all these things. Her memory seems better than mine though. I get distracted easily too. This fruit is really good and oh I like the crunch of that bell pepper. Oh man the jalapeño was awesome! I took one bite and WOW! Anyway, the sun is starting to go down just like They said. Another dog found Eve and she's cuddling up with him. This one is a female like Eve and is pretty soft. It's almost too dark to see now.
